Blood and faecal samples were collected from 96 emperor penguins at Cape Washington and from 29 Adelie penguins at Mandible Cirque. Plasma concentrations of corticosterone will be measured and the presence or absence of antibodies against various diseases determined in plasma. Faecal samples will be cultured to determine whether various bacteria are present.
The raw data is hormone concentrations and behaviour measurements. These data form the basis of ongoing publications, and are not available in any form.
The plasma samples are in the private laboratory freezers at the Institute of Veterinary, Animal and Biomedical Sciences, Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand. It is possible to provide plasma samples once the investigators measurements are made.
The data is only available through contact with the investigator.
