CHRIS stands for Compact High Resolution Imaging Spectrometer.It was
launched aboard ESA's Proba satellite on 22 October 2001 and provides
hyperspectral images to a resolution of 18m. The Proba mission
objectives are primarily for in-orbit demonstration and evaluation of
new technologies, the CHRIS instrument is one of these technologies,
the data provided from Chris is targeted to help with environmental
monitoring applications.
